It’s been a real long time since I posted here. (Last post: July 21, 2009!). Now that’s a long time to keep quiet! True, “when you have nothing to say, say nothing“, but I’m sure I’d could’ve found something. I’ll try to be more vocal in the future… and post at least once every three months
.
Here’s a list of some of the new and not so new features added at DropAce.
Expired Domains With Quantcast Rank < 1M
Expired Domains With Quantcast Rank < 1M is a subset list that displays any domain that appears in the primary deleting or expiring domain lists with a rank of 1,000,000 or less. In addition, when hovering over the “tag” icon
, a info box will open and display a short summary of U.S. traffic metrics and user demographics as provided by Quantcast. (when available)

Domain Details Pages
For domain details pages, accessed by clicking a domain name on the domain list pages, the following metrics have been added
- Online Since
- Google Backlinks
- Google Indexed Pages
- Yahoo Backlinks
- Yahoo Indexed Pages
- Bing Indexed Pages
- Quantcast Data
- Archive.org a.k.a Wayback Machine
Online Since
Displays the date the domain was created. Currently the following TLD’s are supported: com, net, org, biz, info, mobi, us, ca, edu, tv, name, pro, cc, and ws.
Google Backlinks
The number of webpages that Google lists as linking to the domain’s homepage. This metric is gathered by using Google’s advanced query operator: link:domain. In addition, there is what I call, “filtered” results. These filtered results aim to show a more accurate result by attempting to get the last results page for this backlink query.
For example, querying link:apple.com, will show the first 10 results, and display (click image to enlarge):
Now, Google only allows you to see the first 1,000 results. Let’s see what happens when we go to the last page, by changing the url to point to page 990. This should show results 991 -1000, the maximum possible results Google will show.
What in fact is returned is:
and
As you can see, Google believes that there are only 871 relevant results for this backlink query. With filtered results, you will see this number displayed along side the “unfiltered” results.
Google Indexed Pages
The number of indexed pages returned when querying Google using the query operator: site:domain. This list is confined to those websites within the given domain, i.e. www.cnn.com, edition.cnn.com.
For example, querying site:cnn.com, will show the first 10 results, and display:
Results 1 – 10 of about 4,150,000 from cnn.com
For “filtered” Google indexed pages, we use the same method use for Google backlinks, i.e. page 990 returns:
Results 671 – 674 of about 4,150,000 from cnn.com.
and
In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 674 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.
Google Indexed Pages will display both, the unfiltered and filtered results
Yahoo Backlinks
With Yahoo backlinks, the results show the number of backlinks, or indexed inlinks, to a site, tailoring the query to exclude inlinks from the domain to itself.
For example, for wikipedia.org, which returns the following (click image to enlarge):
Yahoo Backlinks will display the inlinks result: 211,415,013
Yahoo Indexed Pages
With Yahoo indexed pages, the results show the number of pages that are indexed by Yahoo! including subdomains.
For example, for wikipedia.org, which returns the following (click image to enlarge):
Yahoo Indexed Pages will display the pages result: 56,717,363
Bing Indexed Pages
With Bing indexed pages, the results show the number of webpages that belong to the specific site as indexed by Bing! using the advanced search keyword site:domain. In addition, results are limited to the U.S. market.
For example, querying site:craigslist.org, returns the following (click image to enlarge):
Bing Indexed Pages will display this result of 624,000
Quantcast Data
Quantcast data results are divided in to two results: Quantcast rank and description, when available. The description contains a short summary of U.S. traffic metrics and user demographics. These results can be found at Quantcast.com by viewing the url: http://www.quantcast.com/domain.
Example: Quantcast data for thedailybeast.com shows:
Quantcast data results would show Rank: 244, Description:(as shown)
Archive.org a.k.a Wayback Machine
Displays whether the domain appears in the web archives Internet Archive Wayback Machine, and the number of archived pages. (if available).
This data can be accessed by going to the url: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://domain. For example: Wayback Machine results for http://mozilla.com shows :
Archive.org results would display, Listed: Yes, Results: 372
Ok, this about wraps up what’s new here. Enjoy! .. and comments are welcome.

Hi, Having the new metrics in the details pages is great, but it makes it very hard to assess large numbers of sites at once. Can you put some of the metrics into columns of the results rather than in the details? As it stands, most of your data won’t get seen.
Perhaps more importantly, this functionality will draw in many many of us who are disenchanted with freshdrop’s new pricing model.
